Fiero intake manifold installation instructions

Fiero SR14 intake manifold installation instructions

Here is the basic installation that we’ve done and tips. When you install yours if you come up with an easier way or a good tip please email us and we’ll add this to the page.

You will need to purchase a FEL-PRO gasket kit number MS 93020 at Autozone, Pepboys, Trackauto or your local parts store. This kit will come with all the gaskets needed and the silicone needed for the installation.  Also buy a set of injector seals.

1 - Remove old intake. I am assuming if you do this install you have the means to remove the stock intake manifold. Make sure all surfaces of the lower stock intake are clean and smooth. Brake cleaner works well and so does a new razor blade.

- Remove coolant filler cap and drain coolant until it is below the top of the lower (base) intake.   Remove hoses from neck and remove neck.

2 - Install the throttle body on your SR14. Whereas they are not really required, now would be a good time to remove the water lines to the throttle body.  You can simply install short loop of hose at the coolant neck to jump it out later.  This will also make installation easier and make for a cleaner looking engine.

3 - Install the EGR tube to your SR14, but do not tighten the bolts fully. You will need to move it around later when installing the intake on the engine.

4 – Apply RTV to both sides of intake gasket and starting with back center bolt, bolt the SR14 to the lower manifold loosely.  With all bolts started, tighten the center bolts and then move outward and do the others.

5 - Fuel rail; install only injectors for cylinders # 2, 4, 5, and 6 on the rail.  With a vacuum hose connected to regulator, pass the rail through the intake adding the other two injectors when in place.  Note: Even if they are not very old, do NOT reuse your old injector seals.  Get new ones!

6- Cut your plastic EGR tube leaving 3” at the valve cover end.  Insert that end into a rubber hose and connect hose to the left side of the ‘T’ vacuum fitting.  See vacuum lines drawing and photo below.

7– Connect Power brake hose to right side of ‘T’ fitting.

8- Connect the TB coolant lines to TB, if you still want to use them.

9 – Reinstall coolant filler neck and hoses.  Add jumper hose if not using TB coolant lines.

10- Mount MAP sensor to new vertical position and connect hose to SR14.

11– Using new hoses and not plastic lines (they are great source of vacuum leaks whereas they often crack), connect all remaining vacuum hoses adding plastic ‘T’ fittings if needed or one of our Vacuum-distribution blocks.

12 - Install throttle bracket & cable, fuel lines, tighten EGR tube on SR14 neck, turn ignition key to ‘ON’ and check for fuel leaks, install TB inlet air tube.

13 – Disconnect battery and replace stock ECU chip with new chip provided.  Reconnect battery, recheck everything and start engine!
